Nick Mander

A&R Consultant / Virgin - EMI Records (UK)

Nick Mander

"Nick has 29 years of music business experience behind him. From humble beginnings as a salesman on the road for EMI Records in the late 1980’s, Nick moved to the A&R department at EMI. Rising rapidly through the ranks at EMI and after some high profile signings, Nick was soon running the A&R Department at EMI and he was part of a golden period at the company. He presided over a roster that included Pink Floyd, The Pet Shop Boys, EMF, Jesus Jones, Iron Maiden and Kate Bush.

> In early 2000 Nick was headhunted by Rob Stringer, the then head of Epic Records UK to run the A&R Department as the Director of &R at Epic UK in London. Nick immediately signed the artist Finley Quaye who went on to sell over a million albums and win the Brit Award for “Best British Male” at the 2001 Brit Awards. Epic went through a period of great success and the the label nurtured the careers of artists as diverse as Finley Quaye, Sade, The Manic Street Preachers and George Michael.

> Nick is currently a senior A&R consultant at Virgin-EMI Records in London where he has signed a number of artists as well as taking responsibility for several other label signings. Amongst his A&R duties he has looked after the recording career of the artist including Jake Bugg, Isaac Gracie, Twin Atlantic and Barns Courtney the rock artist who has generated over half a billion streams and over 2 million pounds of synch income across his 2 albums for Virgin.

> Nick also represents some of the biggest hit singles from the late 80’s and early 90’s, on behalf of the artists themselves for master synch income. Nick looks after the master licensing for tacks including “Unbelievable” by EMF which is one of the highest grossing synch income recordings of the last 30 years."
