Michael Christophe

Michael Christophe is the founder and was the “TransAmazoniennes” festival director in French Guiana from 1995 to 2011 (ranked among the top 10 world music festivals in France)

In 1997 he created the first "café music" in French Guiana (accredited institution by the government, which he directed until 2005).

From 1999 to 2004, he also controlled the forerunner of the cultural department of the City of Saint Laurent du Maroni; he took part in the rehabilitation of the old penitentiary (classified historical monument) into a multi disciplines cultural center, he built the project to obtain the label "City of Art and History", he developed a multi-year agreement and raised an interregional cooperation in artistic and cultural fields between French Guiana, Brazil and Suriname.

In 2004 he created the world music label "Transportation" with which he produced several TV reports about music and culture from Amazinia and more than 250 music tracks, initiated partnerships with SONY, EMI, VIRGIN ...
He managed 4 Guyanese artists (Chris Combette, Prince Koloni & Fondering, Energy Crew and Spoïty Boys); he toured them in several countries from 1997 until today.

In 2009, he moved to Canada and became the booking agent of Alpha Blondy and Bunny Wailer for North America. He also created a world music label "Diasporas Music" and produced a compilation with several international and Canadian artists, in collaboration with "Riddim Wise" in Montreal.

From 2011, and thanks to partnerships with various organizations (Pasa Musik, Agence Wade, FamGroup, Zion Productions, …), he started to develop the visibility on international stage, for several Canadian & francophone artists (Nomadic Massive, Inword, Papa Zon, Mehdi Cayenne, Wesli, Ilam, Malika Tirolien, Shaun Ferguson…)

Since 2014, he is also the Mondokarnaval festival's production manager in Quebec.

Then in 2018, he moved in Acadia, New Brunswic, where he started an international networking initiative: “MusiConnect Canada” with more than 100 international active music promoters.
